VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Update July 25: Jason Jurado turned himself into Volusia County deputies Monday night.
Volusia County deputies are seeking a man accused of holding his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint.
The victim told deputies she dropped off her children at a DeLand day care on Monday and when she got back to her car, Jason Jurado, 19, was in her back seat.
She said he crawled into the front seat, where he loaded a gun and held it to her head before making her drive away.
She said Jurado took her phone, and when she tried to stop him, he struck her hand with the weapon.
The victim pulled into a parking lot and began honking her horn to get someone’s attention, deputies said.
When a passerby stopped to see what was going on, Jurado ran from the vehicle and the victim then flagged down an officer, deputies said.
Deputies said Jurado has a history of following and terrorizing the victim.
On July 15, she reported he broke down her bedroom door but then ran from the home.
"He's been terrorizing her, essentially. Going by her house, threatening her," said Andrew Gant of the Volusia County Sheriff's Office. "I know she's terrifies and we want to protect her and make sure she's sage.
Jurado is the father of the victim's children, deputies said.
Deputies said anyone who sees Jurado should not approach him and should instead call 911.
“We always tell you, if you’re in a bad situation, relationship, get out. In this case, she’s out. He’s her ex and he still won’t leave her alone,” Gant said.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477.
