WATCH: Alligator lunges at photographer in Gainesville park

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Video of an alligator lunging at photographer in a Gainesville park is getting a lot of attention on social media.

Ben Boukari posted video on Facebook of a man on the edge of the water at Paynes Preserve State Park earlier this month.

“This gentleman was trying to get a little closer for pics. Much of the trail is not on a boardwalk and gators typically just sun and leave visitors alone,” the post said.

The video shoes the animal lunging at the man and knocking over his tripod as he jumps into some bushes.

Boukari said he recorded the incident from above on a boardwalk.

He said it was a “mama gator” and her babies were close by.

The man in the video continued to try and snap a photo of the alligator on his phone and the animal lunged at him two more times.

The man eventually walks away, leaving his equipment behind, as the alligator turns around and goes back into the water.

Earlier this year, a woman recorded video a wild horse attacking an alligator at the same park.

Angry mama gator defends babies at La Chua Trail at Paynes Prairie in Gainesville. Guy is way too close! Everyone else around this video is on a boardwalk above the gator in a safe location.
