Town of Eatonville under boil water alert

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A precautionary boil water alert is now in effect until further notice for the entire town.

The alert follows a water main break that closed down a block in Eatonville at about 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities don’t know what caused the break, but the Public Works Department said cold weather may be to blame.

The break is on East Kennedy Boulevard, between College Avenue and Johnson Street. The city says that road will remain shut down until sometime Thursday.

The break has been repaired.

"We have to constantly put bleach in the water to flush the toilets. We have no pressure with the water, so we practically can't do anything," Janie Long, of Brighter Futures Daycare, said.

Long said because of the deconstruction of roads for repairs, it could cause a delay in parents picking up their children.

The town of Eatonville said it’s working diligently to correct the issue. There’s no word yet when the boil alert will be lifted.
