WFTV's Christopher Heath asks Hillary Clinton the tough questions

TAMPA, Fla. — Channel 9’s Christopher Heath spoke one-on-one with Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton during her Tampa campaign stop Tuesday.

The Clinton campaign has been spending time and money in Florida, out-spending Trump but a 6-to-1 margin.

Yet the race is tight, with some polls giving Trump a lead.

“You have significantly outspent Trump in this state, yet the gap is razor thing. Any reason for that?” asked Heath.

“Look, I’ve always said this is going to be a close election, and Florida is a close state. We’ve been working hard to register voters,” Clinton said.

On Tuesday, her campaign did just that.

Clinton worked the crowd in Tampa, but connecting with voters means connecting on issues.

In Central Florida, one of the lingering issued is health care, with Orange and Osceola among the highest in uninsured residents in the state.

“Does Obamacare need to be changed, or does the entire thing to be rewritten and replaced?” asked Heath.

“One of your problems in Florida is your governor refused to (expand) Medicaid. It’s one of the reasons Florida has such a high rate, like Texas. New York and California don’t, (which is why) those Democratic governors saw a good deal and took it,” Clinton said.

“Does it concern you that companies like Aetna are pulling out?” asked Heath.

“It raises questions, and one of the reasons that they have given is that not enough people are in the system,” Clinton said.

Heath also asked Clinton about the future of NASA and the space program.

She reaffirmed her commitment to space exploration, saying the goal should be Mars.
