WINTER PARK, Fla. - A woman is in the hospital after being shot by a Winter Park police officer in Orwin Manor Sunday morning, officers said.
Winter Park police responded to a report from a man that his girlfriend was trying to harm herself around 8 a.m. near the intersection of Harmon and Wisconsin avenues, police said.
Officers found a woman with a gun in a home near the intersection and tried to speak with her, police said.
Officers said that during the exchange, police fired on the woman, hitting her.
