Woman who says she was groped by Lake County state trooper worries there are more victims

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Eyewitness News found out more about the Florida Highway Patrol trooper accused of groping a woman during a traffic stop.

Trooper David Gonzalez was arrested in Lake County Wednesday and was fired.

Channel 9's Jeff Deal talked to the victim Thursday. She did not want to go on camera, but said she wonders if there are other victims he's accused of groping.

Neighbors told Eyewitness News Gonzalez just recently moved out of his Lake County home.

“He seems nice. He used to always say, ‘Hi,'" said a neighbor.

Gonzalez is accused of pulling the 21-year-old woman over on U.S. Route 441 in Leesburg in early September. He cited her for no proof of insurance.

The woman told Lake County deputies that Gonzalez hugged her, kissed her and groped her breasts.

Investigators believe he took her phone, added himself to her Snapchat account and later contacted her through it.

On Tuesday, deputies monitored a Snapchat conversation between the two, where they say Gonzalez admitted to the claims.

This was Gonzalez’s first law enforcement job. He has been cited for careless driving in 2014 following a rear-end crash.

Investigators said they don’t have any specific information to suspect there are other victims.
