Work set to begin on interchange to connect Avalon Park to the Beachline

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — For residents of Avalon Park, getting from their homes to the Beachline four miles away, can be a 45-minute ordeal.

Construction is set to begin in July on a new interchange that would connect Innovation Way in Avalon Park directly to the Beachline.

It’s a project that officials hope will make a huge difference for area residents.

Commuters like Andrew Mongeau are excited about the project and the time they’ll save every day.

“It’s really frustrating to take 45 minutes to drive to something that is four miles away,” he said.

Unfortunately, Avalon Park residents will have to wait about two years for the project to be completed.

Construction of the interchange would require relocating toll plazas and the ramp at International Corporate Park to Innovation Way.

The $62.5 million project is also expected to pave the way for the Sunbridge development, which could bring thousands of new homes to the area.

Cattle will have to be removed from the construction area and some environmental issues would have to be addressed, but officials expect to break ground after the Fourth of July weekend.
