SARASOTA, Fla. — The world's oldest known manatee has died in a "heartbreaking accident," the South Florida Museum said.
Snooty died two days after his 69th birthday.
“The circumstances are being investigated so we can be sure we know the full details of what happened,” the museum said in a statement.
The other three manatees being rehabilitated at the South Florida Museum—Randall, Gale and Baca—are fine, the museum said.
The museum said it would post details about a memorial when it becomes available.
