Wrestlemania fans flock to Orlando's Camping World Stadium

ORLANDO, Fla. — Wrestlemania 33 kicked off Sunday at Orlando’s Camping World Stadium with thousands of fans flocking to the supercharged event.

“It’s magnetic, it’s electrifying,” fan Phil Slater said.

Slater spent two days traveling from Gibraltar to attend Wrestlemania. The time spent getting to Orlando was worth it, he said.

“It’s amazing,” he said. “It’s wrestling. John Cina is what every man should aspire to be.”

Scott Crawford made his trek to Wrestlemania from Scotland and said he’s been a wrestling fan “all my life.”

Sunday marked the fifth time United Kingdom resident Sal Mohammed has attended Wrestlemania.

The fact that this year’s event was being held in Orlando made it all the more tempting, he said.

“(The) weather, entertainment, booze and the wrestling,” Mohammed said when asked why he loves pro wrestling.

It’s been nine years since Wrestlemania was held in Orlando and in that time the city spent millions on upgrading Camping World Stadium.

Residents say it was worth the money.

“I mean, look, we have Wrestlemania back here after nine years, so, it’s worth it,” Orlando resident Felix Theodore said. “We had the Pro Bowl in January, so it’s definitely worth it. Absolutely.”
