YouTube video has Orlando district fire chief under fire

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orlando's district fire chief is under fire Friday for a YouTube video he made to sell fishing equipment.

Danny Wilson was wearing his fire uniform and used a city vehicle while he plugged the product in the YouTube video. It's unclear, however, when the video was made or posted.

Channel 9's Shannon Butler started asking questions when a firefighter complained to the city.

It’s not clear if Wilson was on duty when he filmed the ad for a personal profit.

Wilson makes at least $100,000 a year that is paid for with taxpayer dollars and has a city pension after decades of service.

Eyewitness News learned the vehicle that is in the video is not a take-home truck. It's used by the chief who is on duty in that district that day.

Investigators are reviewing if the video violates policies in the city ethics manual. One of the policies includes the use of city equipment and that "they may not be used for private or personal purposes.”

A statement from the Orlando Fire Department reads: "The Orlando Fire Department was made aware of this video yesterday (Thursday) and immediately asked the employee to take the video down, which he did. We are further looking into the situation to see if any city policies have been violated."

The president of the fire union told Eyewitness News the union is waiting to see what steps the city takes before getting involved.
