9-year-old raises money to buy bulletproof vests for K-9 officers

It all started as a quest to raise money to buy a bulletproof vest for one K-9 officer to mark his ninth birthday, but Brady Snakovsky of Strongsville, Ohio, has gone above and beyond his goal, purchasing more than 50 vests for the dogs that protect cities and towns across the country.

The third grader founded Brady's K9 Fund, a nonprofit to raise money and buy vests for police dogs.

It all came about when he was watching television.

"He noticed a dog on television who wasn't wearing a vest and he wanted to go out and buy a vest and give it to a K-9 who was in need of one," Brady's mother, Leah Tornabene told WJW.

As of May, Brady’s foundation has raised enough money to buy and donate 79 vests.

Each vest costs $1,200, WJW reported.

When Brady grows up, he told WKYC last year, he wants to be a police officer like his stepfather. His room is even decorated with badges he's collected from across the country.
