LONDON — Baby Sussex is only a few days old, but that hasβt stopped new mother, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex, from celebrating her first U.S. Motherβs Day.
In the United Kingdom, the holiday has passed, but the holiday is celebrated the second Sunday in May in the U.S. and a number of other countries.
Sussex Royal, the official Instagram page for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, wished a happy Mother's Day to Markle with a photo of baby Archie's feet cradled in Markle's hands. A garden of purple-blue flowers is seen below.
βPaying tribute to all mothers today - past, present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered,β the caption read. βWe honor and celebrate each and every one of you.
"Today is Mother's Day in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kenya, Japan, and several countries across Europe.
"This is the first Mother's Day for The Duchess of Sussex."
The post also included a quote fromΒ Nayyirah Waheedβs poem,Β βLands.β

Itβs not the first time Markle has referenced the black poet. In 2017, she sharedΒ Waheedβs poem, from the writerβs self-published 2013 collectionΒ βsalt,β on International Womenβs Day.
