Photo of teen smiling in front of fatal wreck angers widow

SARASOTA, Fla. — A teenager who was a passenger in a Volvo that was involved in a fatal crash on I-75 on Friday has outraged the widow of the man who died in the accident by allegedly posting a picture of the mangled Volvo on social media.

WFTS reported that the 15-year-old who posted the alleged picture was riding in a car driven by his 16-year-old brother, when a truck, driven by Robert Drewelus, hit the back of the Volvo. Drewelus' truck, carrying 8500 gallons of gas, went "off the road and it burst into flames."

The 16-year-old continued driving and both teens were located hours later and taken into custody.

The photo that has circulated on the internet, and has since been taken down, showed the 15-year-old passenger posing with the damaged Volvo, with the caption “RIP volv” followed by emojis of a sweating smiley face and a semi-truck.

"I'm infuriated, I'm disgusted by it," Elsie Nieves-Drewelus, Robert Drewelus' widow, said. "I am angry cause meanwhile they are posting pictures on social media thinking it's funny, my husband -- what was left of him -- is being cremated."

A message was posted on the social media account in question stating it had been hacked, WFTS reports.

The 16-year-old driver of the Volvo was charged with violating the conditions of his learners permit and felony leaving the scene of a crash involving death, according to WFTS.

"Meanwhile they are posting pictures on social media thinking it's funny. My husband ... is being cremated.”
