Police: Florida woman attacks gas station employees with hot coffee

LAKE WORTH, Fla. — A 43-year-old Florida woman faces multiple charges after she threw hot coffee at two gas station employees Wednesday morning, police said.

Palm Springs police arrested Alicia Denise Henderson on charges that include aggravated battery, fleeing and eluding and resisting an officer with violence. She was being held without bail Thursday at the Palm Beach County Jail.

According to police, Henderson created a disturbance while pouring coffee shortly before 6 a.m. Wednesday at a Speedway gas station. A man who works in the store went to help Henderson when, for no apparent reason, she threw the cup of coffee at him. The coffee hit the man in his lower abdomen and crotch area.

When the store’s manager tried to intervene, Henderson threw the remaining coffee in the cup at the woman’s chest, police said.

Police were contacted and Henderson fled the store, got into a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo and sped away as officers arrived at the scene. During her getaway attempt, she crashed her car into another vehicle, police said.

An officer saw the crash and tried to stop her. Henderson eventually returned to the gas station and was finally stopped. She began fighting as officers tried to take her into custody, according to an arrest report. An officer used a Taser to subdue her.

Henderson was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, then taken to the county jail.
