Lockdown lifted at Seattle Pacific University after bomb threat

SEATTLE — Seattle Pacific University was on lockdown Saturday night after receiving a bomb threat.

The lockdown was lifted at 8:36 p.m. local time.

No students were reported injured or missing.

The bomb threat was called in over the phone. Royal Brougham Pavillion, the university's gym, was evacuated.

SPU MODE Fashion Group, an on-campus club, was hosting a fashion show in the gym at the time.

The club says it is unsure if and when it will reschedule the annual event.

Safety and Security Senior Vice President for Planning and Administration Donald W. Mortenson said the threat was not believed to be credible, but the university did take every precaution possible.

Below is a text message that the university sent out to all students Saturday night:

"SPU-Alert: Campus Lockdown initiated. This is not a drill. We received a bomb threat and we are taking the precaution of evacuating buildings that we believe need to be evacuated. If you are in a building please stay where you are until we specifically evacuate your building. If you are outside of a building please leave campus. Follow instructions from university officials or local authorities. More information on campus emergencies can be found at http://spu.edu/about-spu/press-room/emergency-plan."
