Predators Fall To Rival Jacksonville

The Orlando Predators fell to 1-9 on the season after a 55-37 loss to the Jacksonville Sharks on Friday night at the Amway Arena.
The Sharks opened the scoring for the game with a field goal by kicker Marco Cappozzoli. On Chris Leak’s first drive in the Jungle, he was able to hit Dwayne Eley, Jr. with a big 31 yard pass, which was topped off by a 10 yard touchdown reception by WR T.T. Toliver, bringing the score to 7-3 Orlando. After a turnover on downs by the Sharks, the Predators added another touchdown pass to Christopher Jamison, making the score 14-3 Predators at the end of the first quarter.
The Sharks scored on their first drive of the second quarter with a 10 yard touchdown pass from Morris to wide receiver Bobby Sewall. Leak answered with a long 39 yard completion to Toliver, his second touchdown of the game.  After a successful point after attempt by Lewis, the Preds were up 21-10. The Sharks picked up another touchdown on their next drive, a pass from Morris to Sewall, but Cappozzoli missed the extra point. Predators wide receiver Jarvis Williams fumbled the kick return, giving possession back to the Sharks. Jacksonville was able to capitalize off of the turnover, with a 9 yard pass from Morris to WR Jamarko Simmons, giving the Sharks the lead, 23-21.  After another turnover on downs by the Preds, Morris completed a 14 yard pass to wide receiver Terrance Smith, bringing the score to 33-24 Sharks at the end of the half.

The Sharks were the only ones to put points on the board in the third quarter, with a 24 yard rushing touchdown by Morris into the end zone. Cappozzoli’s extra point is blocked by Predators defensive lineman Richard Clebert.  Cappozzoli hit a field goal with less than a minute left in the quarter, making the score 42-24 Jacksonville at the end of the third.
The Sharks opened the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 10 yard touchdown pass from Morris to Smith, increasing the Sharks lead to 25. The Predators responded with a two yard touchdown pass from Leak to Toliver, his third of the game. Lewis hit the point after, bringing the score to 49-31. Later in the quarter, Morris scored his sixth touchdown with an 11 yard pass to Smith. Leak followed with a long 38 yard completion to Eley, Jr., that was topped off with a rushing touchdown by Moye-Moore. The Sharks recovered the Preds’ onside kick attempt and ran out the clock, winning the game 55-37.

The Predators were led offensively by quarterback Chris Leak, who finished 17 for 32, threw for 275 yards, 4 touchdowns and no interceptions. Dwayne Eley Jr. had the bulk of the yardage with 6 receptions for 114 yards. T.T. Toliver had 5 receptions for 82 yards and 3 touchdowns.
On defense the Preds were led statistically by Simeon Castille who had eight tackles, and Travis Coleman who finished with seven tackles. Terrance Carter also contributed four tackles and 1.5 sacks.

Next week the Predators head to Philadelphia to face the Soul for the second time this season.  The Soul won the previous game against the Preds 69-53 and currently sit at the top of the American Conference East division.
