Kaká misses home opener due to thigh strain

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando City Soccer Club midfielder Ricardo Kaká missed Sunday's season opener at the Orlando Citrus Bowl due to a thigh strain, the team said.

Kaká strained his thigh while training yesterday, team officials said.

It's unknown if the team captain will play in Friday's match against the Chicago Fire.

"This is certainly a disappointment for the squad, especially given Ricky's outstanding performance during preseason," head coach Adrian Heath said. "That said, it seems like something from which he can recover soon."

The match was broadcasted live on WRDQ Central Florida's TV 27.
