ORLANDO, Fla. - A woman died early Friday when the car she was driving crashed into a large delivery truck, the Orlando Police Department said.
The crash was reported shortly after 2:45 a.m. on Mercy Drive near New Hampshire Street, Orlando police Lt. Jonathan Bigelow said.
The woman, who hasn't been identified, died at the scene, and the man was taken to a hospital with injuries that aren't life-threatening, Bigelow said.
"Based on witnesses statements and our preliminary investigation, this appears to be a head-on collision and speed could be (a) contributing factor to the severity of the crash," he said.
Mercy Drive was closed between Princeton and New Hampshire streets for more than five hours.
