APOPKA, Fla. — Eyewitness News learned Tuesday that Apopka city attorney Tom Cloud has resigned.
Channel 9's Kathi Belich broke the story Monday that the newly hired city attorney's phone number shows up in the clientele records from a former brothel in east Orange County.
Cloud's longtime phone number shows up twice in the brothel's records.
The client is identified as driving a blue Chevrolet Corvette. Cloud admitted to us that he has a blue Corvette and had one back in 2010.
Cloud denies to Channel 9 and to Apopka Mayor Joe Kilsheimer that he was a client of the brothel and told us he doesn't know how his phone number ended up in the court records.
Channel 9 found a traffic court record indicating Cloud got a speeding ticket driving a blue Chevrolet in 2010.
The mayor said he'll create a committee from inside and outside the city to take applications and make recommendations before selecting a candidate for council to vote on.
