Coast Guard airlifts woman from Carnival cruise ship

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. — The U.S. Coast Guard airlifted a 71-year-old woman off a Carnival cruise ship that was on its way back to Port Canaveral Saturday.

The Carnival Liberty, which is on its way back to Port Canaveral from Nassau, called for the airlift after the woman began experiencing hypertension, officials said.

The Coast Guard launched an Air Station Clearwater MH-60 helicopter crew.

The crew arrived at the cruise ship around noon and safely transferred the patient to Jackson Memorial hospital in Miami.
