DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Authorities are searching for a man who snatched a red nose pit bull from a 7-year-old boy while they were out for a walk.
Volusia County Sheriff's spokesman Brandon Haught says the boy was walking the dog, named Red, on Tuesday morning when a man got out of a car and said the dog was his.
Anthony Cavallero told the Daytona Beach News-Journal the man took the dog off the chain and put it in his car. Cavallero says his neighbor had given the 8-month-old dog to his son three days earlier.
Deputies say the suspect left in a silver, four-door car.
Anyone with information about the dog thief is asked to call the sheriff's office at 386-736-5999.
