ORLANDO, Fla. — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced that certain groups of people are allowed to get Pfizer’s COVID-19 booster shot.

Here’s who qualifies for the shot:
- People 65 and older.
- People ages 18 to 64 who are at high risk of severe COVID-19.
- People ages 18 through 64 whose “frequent institutional or occupational exposure to SARS-CoV-2 puts them at high risk of serious complications of COVID-19 including severe COVID-19,” the FDA said.
- People with weakened immune systems.

Americans who received the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are waiting to hear whether they can also receive booster shots.
