ORLANDO, Fla. — Across the country, many Americans are supporting Black-owned businesses for Blackout Day.
The initiative started in early May after the killings of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd.
It’s a move that has sparked a wave of civic, political and economic action.
Blackout Day is a day to shower Black-owned businesses with support in a continued push for social justice and economic equality.

“Supporting Black businesses today creates a whole different understanding about how important we are as a people and what we have always brought to the table of understanding,” said J. Henry, the owner of J. Henry Barbershop.
