Orlando police citizen review board to become part of process reviewing traffic stop policies, procedures

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando police chief told the Citizens Review Board that he will soon make them part of the process on reviewing policies and procedures during traffic stops.

It marks the latest part of meeting the demands for more accountability and transparency for law enforcement in the wake of George Floyd’s killing.

The board wants the department to look closer at officers who disrespect people during encounters.

The argument from the board has always been that it has no teeth because it is reviewing the cases long after punishment for Orlando police officers has been handed down.

During a meeting on Tuesday, board members said they continue to see cases where they feel the conversation goes badly and they would like to see discipline handed down for that along with whatever policy violations they were charged with.
