SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Seventh graders at Millennium Middle School may already know what vaping is, but on Thursday, they got to see the negative impact it can have.
The school district on Thursday rolled out a new campaign called “It Won’t Be Me" to teach students about the dangers of things like vaping.

Walter McKnight visited students at Millennium Middle School to discuss the complications he experienced with vaping.
“I was surprised because they didn’t tell us he was going to be there,” student Daniel Henry said. “So when I saw someone who actually went through all that, I was kind of shocked.”
Sheriff Dennis Lemma said the goal of the campaign is to connect with the students.
“We wanted to hit that targeted group in the middle school to make sure that we’re offering some educational, informative advice, by using real like examples to do that,” he said.
The campaign is one of several steps the district has taken to combat the rise of vaping, including installing special machines and pursuing a lawsuit against e-cigarette company Juul.
