COCOA, Fla. — A crash involving a tractor-trailer that spilled oil and diesel on I-95 northbound caused all lanes to shut down in Cocoa Wednesday, but the roadway has since reopened, according to officials.
The Florida Highway Patrol said two tractor-trailers were traveling north on I-95 in the right lane near Port St. John Parkway. The first one was towing double trailers and the other was towing a flatbed trailer carrying heavy equipment, troopers said.
The first tractor-trailer was driving behind the other and tried to change lanes to avoid hitting it, but clipped the back of the flatbed trailer.
"It was kind of a major hassle, because I didn't have a clue how long it would be and everybody was making u-turns on the entrance ramp to get off of the blockage there," said a driver.
The first tractor-trailer overturned, and then the flatbed portion of the other tractor-trailer overturned, spilling the fuel and diesel, authorities said.
The roadway had to be repaved, officials said.
There were no injuries reported.
The crash remains under investigation and troopers said charges are pending.
