OCALA, Fla. — It will be at least two weeks before county commissioners vote to move forward with a special election on a stadium deal for the New York Yankees.
Voters would decide on a half-cent sales tax increase, which would be used to build a $50 million stadium in Ocala for the Yankees' minor league team.
"We're going to finish out some details. We've still got some negotiating to go. But, I think it's looking in a direction that we can get this done," said Caral Zalak of the Marion County Commission.
A final public hearing and vote on a possible mail-in referendum is scheduled for Dec. 17.
