PENSACOLA, Fla. — Despite repeated instances of pets being left in hot cars this summer, police are still rescuing dogs from vehicles.
The Pensacola Police Department in Pensacola, Florida, is frustrated, according to a Facebook post from Tuesday afternoon.
The Pensacola Police Department issued a stern warning after the rescue, with the promise of jail for those who leave pets in hot cars.
The department posted two images, one of a tiny, white and brown spotted puppy in a car and another of a broken car window after trying to rescue the puppy, which appears to be weeks old.
"Don’t. Just don’t. If you leave your dog in a hot car and that dog is suffering, we will do whatever we have to do to free him. Or her. Doesn’t matter, we like both kinds of dogs," the department said in the Facebook post. "We will drive your pooch to the caring folks at the Escambia County Animal Shelter and we will drop you off with the caring folks at the Escambia County Detention Facility. You will both receive attention, food, and shelter, albeit different kinds. So, don’t."
