‘All I wanted was mine,' Sanford man tells detective after deadly shooting rampage

The man accused of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend and her 8-year-old son in March told a detective he didn’t mean to hurt anyone.

Sanford police released video Thursday of an interview between a detective and Allen Cashe after the shooting.

Cashe told the detective he was angry with Latina Herring after an early-morning argument over keys that led to police being called.

After that, he said he went to Herring’s house to get his guns and clothes.

In the video, Cashe waited nearly an hour for a detective.

He appeared angry and agitated, and referenced the man once accused of killing Taryvon Martin.

“They got me (expletive) sitting in here like I’m George Zimmerman or some (expletive),” he said.

Once the detective came in, Cashe explained the events leading up to the shooting.

He said, multiple times, his intention was never to hurt anyone and he wanted things from inside the home.

“All I wanted was mine,” he said.

Hours before the shooting, he said Herring was drunk and snatched his keys.

He called police, and so did Herring’s friend claiming Cashe had a gun.

Cashe claimed Herring was looking for any reason to put him in jail.

“All I wanted was mine cause I didn’t want to hurt anybody,” he said. “Just give me what’s mine and we’ll have a fine and dandy day.”

But hours later, police said he stormed into Herring’s home armed with an AK-47.

Police said he show Herring while she was sleeping.

He avoided answering questions about Herring’s shooting death.

“Did you mean to shoot her?” the detective asked.

“I’m not speaking on that,” Cashe said.

He later told the detective that because it was dark, he didn’t know exactly what happened inside the home.

Herring’s father, her two young sons and two bystanders were also shot, police said.

When the detective asked Cashe why he shot the children, Cashe said he may have dropped the gun, but police said he stood directly over the boys and shot them a combined three times.
