Deputies: Lake County man found with loaded rifle, clown mask

LEESBURG, Fla. — A traffic stop in Leesburg led to the arrest of a man with a loaded rifle and a clown mask, Lake County deputies said.

A deputy said he noticed Lloyd Carter, 26, of Mount Dora on Saturday, driving a white 2008 Kia on Pamela Street in Leesburg. The deputy said as Carter approached the intersection of William and Pamela Street, Carter almost rolled through the white stop bar and then made a wide right hand turn onto the other side of the road.

The deputy said he tried to pull Carter over, but he wouldn’t stop.

Carter didn’t stop for the deputy until he hit a chain-link fence, deputies said. Carter then got out of the of car and ran off. The deputy released his K-9 to go after Carter, and the dog bit Carter in the upper leg area.

The deputy said as he apprehended Carter, he noticed Carter was holding a Mossberg .22-caliber assault rifle that had a round in the chamber and 15 rounds in it. The serial number had also been scratched off, deputies said.

While deputies investigated Carter’s vehicle, they found a clown mask on the front passenger seat, deputies said.

Carter is a convicted felon and has a revoked driver’s license, deputies said.
