Deputies: Man fatally shot in driveway of Marion County home

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — A 26-year-old man was fatally shot early Wednesday in the driveway of a home near Marion County's Silver Springs Shores neighborhood, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said.

Someone called 911 at about 2:15 a.m. to report that a shooting had happened along Willow Road, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Lauren Lettelier said.

When deputies arrived, they found an abandoned vehicle that appeared to have been involved in the shooting, Lettelier said.

Investigators said they quickly determined that the shooting had taken place at a nearby home on Pine Course Loop.

"When deputies began to secure the home, a 6-year old juvenile was found alone inside," Lettelier said.

A woman then called 911 to notify deputies that she was driving Todd Aaron, Jr. to Ocala Regional Medical Center, where he later died, investigators said.

Detectives are interviewing witnesses, and forensic technicians are gathering evidence in the case.

Channel 9 learned Aaron was arrested last September on a warrant for attempted murder. His father, Jeffrey Aaron, was killed in 2012.

His body was discovered at Donnybrook Park near State Road 50 and State Road 417 in east Orange County.

Hamal Jefferson was arrested for the killing and told deputies it was over a drug deal.

The shooting of Jeffrey Todd Jr. remains under investigation.
