MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. — One person was injured after a fire broke out at a Merritt Island apartment complex Friday afternoon.

Brevard County Fire Rescue said they responded to reports of a fire at the Baxley Manor apartments around 1:30 p.m.
When firefighters arrived on scene they found a fire inside a second story apartment.
One person in the apartment was transported to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.

Fire officials said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
