WATCH: Alleged Kissimmee police shooter faces judge; person of interest interviewed

KISSIMMEE, Fla — The man accused of shooting and killing two Kissimmee police officers faced a judge Sunday.

Everett Glenn Miller, 45, had his first appearance before a judge on charges of premeditated first-degree murder, carrying a concealed weapon and resisting arrest without violence.

The judge denied him bail.

Kissimmee police Officer Matthew Baxter and Sgt. Sam Howard were shot in a scuffle about 9:30 p.m. Friday at Palmway and East Cypress streets near East Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway and North Main Street, Kissimmee Police Chief Jeff O’Dell said.

Baxter died of his injuries at the scene. Howard succumbed to his injuries at Osceola Regional Medical Center Saturday.

Kissimmee police identified Miller as the suspect in the officers' deaths.

He was arrested and later charged with premeditated first-degree murder Baxter's death. There is no word yet on what charges he will face in Howard's death.

Miller will appear before a judge again when charges in connection with Howard’s death are finalized.

Miller is being held in the Osceola County Jail.

Kissimmee police interviewed a person of interest in relation to the investigation of two officers' deaths.

Detectives said they found and spoke with Maribel Gonzalez King, but would not provide further details why.

Police emphasized that King is not a suspect. She is known to frequent the McLaren Circle area, where the shooting took place.
