Hurricane Ian: Cruise lines rescheduling and canceling voyages from Port Canaveral

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. — As Hurricane Ian makes landfall in Central Florida, a variety of cruise lines have announced major changes to voyage s scheduled for the coming days.

Many cruise-line operators say they don’t want to take the risk of sailing with Port Canaveral’s closure and the strength that this hurricane is showing.

Hurricane Ian is expected to bring sustained winds up to 75 mph. Most people in Central Florida will experience tropical storm-force winds.

Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival Liberty: (Original Departure: Friday, September 30, 2022, sailing from Port Canaveral)

  • This cruise has been canceled due to the closure of Port Canaveral. It’s not expected to open by Friday. Guests will receive a full refund and a 25% Future Cruise Credit.

Disney Cruise Line

Disney Wish: (Original Departure: Friday, September 30, 2022, sailing from Port Canaveral)

  • This cruise has been canceled due to the closure of Port Canaveral. Guests will receive a full refund, with a 20% future cruise discount.

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Getaway: 10-day Caribbean Voyage: (Original Departure: Thursday, September 29, 2022, sailing from Port Canaveral)

  • This cruise has been canceled due to the closure of Port Canaveral. Guests have been notified by email.

Royal Caribbean

Mariner of the Seas: (Original Departure: Thursday, September 29, 2022, sailing from Port Canaveral)

  • This ship will now depart on Saturday, October 1, and return as planned on Monday, October 3.

Independence of the Seas: (Original Departure: Friday, September 30, 2022, sailing from Port Canaveral)

  • This ship will now depart on Saturday, October 1, and return as planned on Monday, October 3.
