Pet policies at international airports in Central Florida

Orlando International Airport: Dogs are not allowed at OIA unless they are working dogs, or they are in a carrier approved for traveling on board an aircraft, according to OIA’s website.

There are service animal relief areas available at OIA. Before security:

- Main terminal, Level 2, “A” side at the east end of the building (to the right as you exit the building).

- Main terminal, Level 2, “B” side at the west end of the building (to the right as you exit the building).

- After security: Gates 1-29 – on the wing for gates 20-29 | Gates 100-129 – across from gate 121.

Pets can be shipped rather than carried on-board the aircraft by a passenger. There are many companies that ship pets, including the airlines and cargo handling companies, such as, AirAnimal, a company specializing in transporting pets.

Owners should contact the airline or cargo handling company directly for details on where to drop-off/pick up your pet.

According to OIA’s website: “Before traveling with a pet you should review the APHIS website. If you are importing pets from another state, please review the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services website.”

Orlando Melbourne International Airport: According to the airport’s website, “Orlando Melbourne International Airport follows all U.S. Department of Transportation rules related to passengers traveling with service animals.
