9 Investigates: Firefighter cheating scandal prompts changes

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — After five firefighters were fired, disciplined or resigned in the wake of a training cheating scandal, the Orange County Fire Department has made test materials more secure.

The firefighters involved were taking the final test for a $6,000 pediatric advanced life support program.

Former firefighter Jeremy Skrocki was an instructor for the program. He is accused of providing test booklets to four trainees this summer.

The firefighters involved were identified as Peter Fontanez, Glenn Kiture, Robert Palmer and Herminio Quinto.

Skrocki, who had access to the test material, denies he had anything to do with helping the firefighters cheat on the test.

Skrocki resigned from the department before the investigation into the scandal wrapped up.

Since the incident, the department has put testing material behind a double locked system. Only a limited number of people have access and keys have to be checked out.
