ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The owner of an illegal club, shut down by state agents after 9 Investigates exposed illegal alcohol sales, was arrested for a second time.

Hours after a planned code enforcement hearing in which club owner Edgar Villanueva was expected to argue against a lien and more than $110,000 in fines, he was taken to jail accused of selling oxycodone and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.

Villanueva is also accused of possession of cocaine with intent.

The new charges stem from the raid by Alcohol, Beverage and Tobacco agents at Club Hacienda La Familia earlier this month. That night, Villanueva was arrested for sale of alcohol without a license.

Villanueva was expected to appear before the Code Enforcement Board Wednesday to present a motion, stating that the “social club has been dissolved and there have been no social club activities since Sept. 25, 2016.”

During the code enforcement hearing, his girlfriend claimed he was in Puerto Rico.

The Code Enforcement Board couldn’t address the fines, which have exceeded $110,000, without Villanueva, so the hearing was continued to a February meeting.

The fines will continue to accrue until that time.
