911 Calls Released In Fatal Attempted Robbery

APOPKA, Fla. — WFTV obtained the 911 calls Wednesday made after a failed robbery that turned into a shooting inside a strip mall casino. Dramatic surveillance video was released Tuesday showing the incident that left one suspect dead; deputies are still looking for his partners.

The two suspects are still on the run, but deputies say they have received tips since WFTV ran the surveillance video on-air.

A day after the startling shootout inside the Allied Veteran's Internet Gaming Center, workers were at the business on SR-436 replacing the glass that was ripped with bullets. Also Wednesday, investigators released the 911 calls from frightened customers inside.

"It's a hold up, it's a hold up! We're in the back room!" a caller told the 911 dispatcher.

"What is the address?"

"Hunt Club, Hunt Club, Hunt Club, please hurry up!" the caller said.

It was one of four calls investigators released Wednesday afternoon.

"Yes, yes, and they, they've been shooting in here. Oh lordy," another caller told a 911 dispatcher.

Three men tried to rob the place, but the security guard fought back, opening fire and killing 21-year-old suspect Gary Bryant. His partners dumped his body out of the getaway car and took off.

"Every business owner in here is upset," Gator's Dockside General Manager John Doelle said.

Doelle said, since the strip mall casino opened, he's had nothing but problems; crime is up and customers were already frightened away by customers from Allied Veterans.

"I've had them come in use the restroom, trash the restroom, then go back and gamble," Doelle said.

Doelle has wanted the place gone for months and says he's not the least bit surprised something like this happened; this was just the latest and most disturbing in a long list of crimes associates with the so-called Internet cafe.

Neighboring businesses told WFTV they've asked property managers to remove the Allied Veterans strip mall casino, but they were told the business has about three and half years left on its lease. WFTV contacted the owner of the plaza for comment, but they did not return the calls.
