BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of threatening emails apparently targeting registered Democrats.

The county Supervisor of Elections alerted the sheriff’s office to the emails late Tuesday afternoon.

The sheriff’s office says the email appears to be an attempt to get the recipients to change their party affiliation and vote Republican.

“I want to personally assure everyone that the Sheriff’s Office, our federal and local law enforcement partners are doing everything possible to identify those responsible,” Sheriff Wayne Ivey said.

A sample of the email’s text reads:

“...we are in possession of all your information. You are currently registered as a Democrat and we know this because we have gained access into the entire voting infrastructure. You will vote for Trump on Election Day or we will come after you. Change your party affiliation to Republican to let us know you received our message and will comply. We will know which candidate you voted for. I would take this seriously if I were you.”

The Sheriff’s Office says the emails are being sent from a “Proud Boys” domain, but Sheriff Ivey says their investigation so far has determined that the emails are originating from outside the United States.

Ivey adds that the threats don’t appear to be valid.
