FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — A local man says his love of sports and sports broadcasting inspired him to pursue a career in the field, despite the fact that he’s been blind since birth.

Trent Ferguson has turned his passion for sports into a blossoming career doing color-commentary for high school sports in Flagler County, doing morning sports reports on the local radio, and hosting a sports radio show called “Outta Sight Sports.”

Ferguson says he was born with a condition called Optic Nerve Hyperplasia. His family realized he was completely blind when he was just three months old.

“To be honest, I would not have it any other way. I’m going to go out there and serve my purpose and do what I have to do to be successful in life,” Ferguson said.

Ferguson is also a drummer. He started learning when he was six years old and is now in a band with his grandfather.
