DELAND, Fla.,None — A DeLand funeral home employee is accused of picking up two teenaged stepsisters, on separate occasions, in a hearse and sexually abusing them, Daytona Beach police said Monday. Michael Campbell, 46, was arrested Sunday and charged with lewd and lascivious molestation and conduct.
WFTV reporter Jason Allen was told that the girls are Campbell's nieces and they called the suspect "Uncle Mike."
On two occasions, police said, Campbell called the first girl's father and said he needed her to help stuff envelopes at the funeral home. He picked up his 15-year-old niece in a hearse and had her accompany him to Daytona Beach International Airport to drop off a body. Campbell then took the teen to the Sahara Hotel, police said.
On the way to the hotel, Campbell told the girl that she could be a model. However, she had to act out a skit with him and that way she would be able to make money to help her disabled mother, investigators said. Police said Campbell had the teen undress at the hotel and he sexually molested her.
Campbell again used the guise that he needed help at the funeral home and the girl's parents sent her stepsister to help. According to police reports, when he took her to another hotel the girl said she did not want to play the "skit." Campbell then told the girl that acting out the skit is how Britney Spears and Beyonce got their start in their careers and molested her.
According to a report, during a conversation, the stepsisters told each other that they were molested by "Uncle Mike." Campbell is being held in the Volusia County branch jail on $200,000 bail.
