SAN FRANCISCO, Cal. — After years of controversy, the adult services section of Craigslist is gone.
The site's administrators removed the popular online classified section today, after years of legal pressure.
Several state attorneys general threatened to take Craigslist to court, because of prostitution ads and other sex ads they said led to crime.
Eyewitness News was in Kissimmee last March, when police arrested a minor league baseball player for allegedly looking for sex on the site.
In 2008, a prostitution sting in Polk County rounded up 13 people including a middle school teacher.
He allegedly went to Craigslist and offered an undercover agent $150 for a sex act.
Craigslist opponents believe removing its exotic services section could serve as a model for other websites.
