None — Dr. Phillips High School will forfeit every win from last year's weightlifting and football seasons because of an ineligible player. Panthers Athletic Director John Magrino confirmed the violations to WFTV Channel 9 in an email Tuesday morning.
"We had received information that a player may have been living out of district," said Magrino. "The information was turned over to Orange County Public Schools and after a full investigation it was confirmed that the residential documentation provided by the family was not accurate. Because of this information, we followed FHSAA rules by self-reporting the results of this investigation and will be forfeiting all victories in football and men's weightlifting in which the student-athlete participated."
"We are obviously extremely disappointed over this but the rules are very clear and we will follow them as required."
The Dr. Phillips football team enjoyed the most successful season in school history in 2010, winning 14 games and making it all the way to the Class 6A State Championship game where they lost to Miami Central. Magrino did not say if there will be further sanctions for the violations.
The Florida High School Athletic Association says they are still gathering information but because of their own policies and guidelines declined to comment further on any ongoing investigation.
