Dr. Phillips Hospital ER Lockdown Lifted

ORLANDO, Fla. — Dr. Phillips Hospital's emergency room (see map) was placed on lockdown Tuesday, but was reopened at around 4:58pm.

A unit picked up a patient at a house along on Memorial Drive in the Williamsburg subdivision at 10:42am. The patient was taken to Dr. Phillips Hospital by a rescue unit.

The patient came in with an unknown chemical on her, according to Katie Dagenais, Public Affairs Manager for M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Orlando and Dr. P. Phillips Hospital

Ambulances were being redirected, but walk-in patients were being treated.

A statement from Dr. P. Phillips Hospital was released saying: "Dr. P. Phillips Hospital emergency department has resumed regular operations. The emergency department had been put on lockdown Tuesday afternoon as a precautionary measure because of an exposure to a chemical that came in with a patient. That patient is being treated. No patient care within the hospital was affected. During the lockdown, patients coming into the emergency department via ambulance were diverted to other nearby facilities. The emergency department continued to treat walk-in patients."
