Five People Hospitalized After Turnpike Crash

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Five people were hospitalized on Sunday night after their car flipped several times on the Florida Turnpike, fell off an overpass, and landed on the road below.

The crash happened on the Turnpike in Clermont, just after 6 p.m. Sunday evening.

Trooper say the Honda Civic was heading north on the Turnpike, when the car flipped at least five times, and fell off an overpass.

All five people inside the car were ejected, including a baby who was flown to Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando.

Traffic on the Turnpike came to a half in both directions, and re-opened a few hours later.

Pieces of the car could be seen strewn across the highway, and the metal guardrails were nearly split in two.

The names and conditions of the victims have not been released.
