Florida seeks answers on EV fire safety after some flooded cars burst into flames

ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida’s state fire marshal is calling for accountability from electric vehicle manufacturers, after Hurricane Ian.

Several electric cars in Southwest Florida burst into flames when the engines were flooded with saltwater from the storm surge.

Jimmy Patronis sent a letter to Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Monday to ask for more information on the dangers of these fires.

Officials have not said if Musk has responded to Patronis.
