TITUSVILLE, Fla. — Do you suffer from sleep apnea or do you have a family member or friend who suffers from it? If so, you are encouraged to attend this support group meeting on Monday, June 7 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Parrish Healthcare Center at Port St. John, 5005 Port St. John Parkway, Port St. John (I-95 east of the Port St. John exit). The meeting will be held in the Conference Center south entrance (near the sleep lab). This is a free community service. Please call 321-268-6408 to register.
At the June 7 meeting you will have the opportunity to learn about treatment options for sleep apnea other than CPAP therapy. Although CPAP therapy is clearly the best option in moderate to severe sleep apnea, some individuals cannot tolerate it or want to look at other options. We will discuss which option is right for you. The method of treatment may depend upon the severity of your sleep apnea (which is determined from a sleep study), the physical structure of your upper airway and other aspects of your medical history. Learn more about other options at this meeting.
Do you get leg cramps often? Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is narrowing or blockage of arteries that results in poor blood flow to your arms and legs. When you walk or exercise, your leg muscles do not get enough blood and you can get painful cramps. Attend this meeting and you will receive a handout for a free PAD screening.
Also, at every A.W.A.K.E. Support Group meeting you will have the opportunity to see newer model CPAP machines and masks and receive a free mask fitting if you'd like.
A.W.A.K.E. Sleep Apnea Support Group meetings are held the first Monday each month.
