OSTEEN, Fla. — A 15-year-old girl was killed Sunday afternoon after an ATV overturned in Osteen, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 12:02 p.m. on Pell Road near Ashby Way in Volusia County.
According to preliminary evidence, the girl was riding a Honda ATV southbound on Pell Road, south of Ashby Way, when she failed to maintain control of the vehicle. The ATV overturned onto its left side.
The 15-year-old rider was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers said her next of kin has been notified.
A 13-year-old girl who was riding as a passenger was taken by family members to Lake Monroe Hospital with injuries that were not considered non-life-threatening.
Pell Road is currently blocked in both directions as troopers investigate the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
