OSTEEN, Fla. — A 15-year-old girl who was killed in an ATV crash in Volusia County has been identified as Haylee Bechtold.

The crash happened around 12:02 p.m. Sunday near Pell Road and Ashby Way in Osteen, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Haylee was driving a 2021 Honda Pioneer 700 south on Pell Road when she lost control and ran off the right side of the roadway.

FHP said she then overcorrected back toward the road, causing the ATV to overturn onto its left side. Haylee was thrown from the ATV and pronounced dead at the scene.

She was from Osteen.

A 13-year-old girl from Fern Park was riding as a passenger and suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries. FHP said family members took her to HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital for treatment.

Troopers said neither girl was wearing a helmet or restraint at the time of the crash.

Fundraiser created in Haylee’s memory

A GoFundMe has been created in memory of Haylee Marie Bechtold following the deadly crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
