OCALA, Fla. — An 18-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured Sunday night after being struck during a two-vehicle crash on SW College Road in Ocala, according to the Ocala Police Department.
First responders were called to the 2500 block of SW College Road around 8:10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, after a westbound Chevrolet Silverado collided with a Lexus SUV entering the intersection from Ocala West Plaza.
Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation. Investigators reported no signs of impairment involving either driver.
Following the collision, the Silverado struck the 18-year-old, who was standing on the median.
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital in serious condition. No other injuries were reported.
During the investigation, Ocala Police investigators learned that shortly before the crash, the injured pedestrian and two other young adults had been filming a social media video on the median while giving someone a haircut.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
