BELLEVIEW, Fla. — A man was killed and another was wounded when a gunman opened fire from a passing vehicle outside a north Florida supermarket.
Belleview police said a group of men were walking through a rear parking lot at Sweetbay supermarket on S. HWY 301 Sunday evening when a black vehicle with the words "Child's play" written in red drove by and starting shooting.
Police said John Lee Hall, 44, was shot in the side and died on the way to the Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala. Police said 20-year-old Charles Penny Jr. was shot in the leg and was treated and released from the hospital.
Police said the black Chevy Sedan was located shortly after the shooting at a home in Silver Springs Shores. After obtaining a search warrant for the sedan and the home, police said they found evidence and weapons. They said an arrest was made on an unrelated charge, and the investigation is ongoing.
